Ever since I visited dragon-like Sunset Arch for the in 2017, I was waiting to come back. This April, we spent a few days in Grand Staircase-Escalante NM and I was able to sneak away at night for some astrophotography. Of course, Sunset Arch was my first target.
I was surprised how much light pollution from the Kayenta area was visible in the sky of this remote bortle 1 zone. I guess it was reflected by the strong haze along the horizon. Higher up however, sky quality was still amazing and allowed me to capture incredible details in the Milky Way bow.
As a landscape photographer and pilot I have the privilege to travel the world and visit some of the most beautiful places on our planet. I started photography as an astro-photographer, which still shows in my passion for nightscapes. While not exclusively shooting at night, a big part of my work shows the beauty of the starry night skies in combination with some iconic landscapes. Thanks for visiting my gallery.
