Description
During this night at Paulina Lake, the moon was only a few days old and set just before astronomical dusk. The conditions were simply perfect to capture this panorama with the setting moon and its reflection in the lake, while the Milky Way and the constellation Scorpius are riding high over Paulina Peak.
As a special treat, Jupiter and Mars were nicely framing the Milky Way, while two more Planets are hiding in plain sight: Venus is setting very low on the horizon, to the right of the Moon and Saturn is almost drowned by the stars of the Milky Way, just above the deep red Lagoon Nebula. Strangely, the reflections of these two planets in the lake are much better visible than the planets themselves.
