Description
When we arrived at this spot, it was foggy with no stars visible. My buddy benjaminbarakat was tempted to call it a night, but I convinced him that not all hope was lost yet. We set up our cameras and while taking some test shots of the road, we noticed that it started to clear up. It only took a few minutes for the fog to dissipate completely. Unfortunately, I missed the chance to shoot the moody scene, but the now perfectly clear conditions allowed me to capture my planned panorama.
The car trails proved to be the hardest part. Due to the fog, we were not able to shoot them during twilight and later, the few passing cars left us with an overexposed mess, full of lens flares due to the headlights shining directly into our cameras. I finally decided I had to to drive myself with only the parking lights turned on. Driving the hairpin turn with almost no light proved to be pretty scary for both me and Benjamin, who operated the cameras and almost had a heart attack, when drove towards him and suddenly applied engine braking to avoid illuminating the bright break lights.
